Anticipation for 2020 planting is mounting, and not just because of the long, cold winter days. This spring marks the first year many AgVenture customers will reap the full benefits of AgVenture Qrome® hybrids with their proprietary technology and proven protection.
Officially approved for commercialization in the spring of 2019, Qrome products feature a proprietary molecular-stack technology utilizing proven insect protection and dual modes of action to defend against above- and below-ground pests. This innovative trait stack is compatible with a broad range of elite germplasm available only from Corteva Agriscience.
In the past, farmers were often forced to choose between planting the right trait for their pest pressure and the right genetics for their acres. AgVenture Corn Product Manager Darren Bakken says that Qrome products make that decision an easier one moving forward.
“With Qrome being the most optimized rootworm trait on the market, optimized for yield performance and optimized for insect efficacy, you take away that decision,” he said. “It’s not an ‘either-or’ anymore; you can have both.”
AgVenture has 13 Qrome hybrids in its portfolio for 2020 planting, and that number will continue to grow over the next several years.
“Because the molecular breeding process is more efficient, advancing new products will happen much faster than with previous trait technologies, due in some part to a broader genetic portfolio,” said AgVenture Product and Technology Marketing Director Scott Hart. “Improved integration across a broader range of germplasm means we can provide more options for farmers to place the best products on their acres.”
These new and better performing products combine elite genetics, strong defensive traits and advanced pest protection to help farmers achieve higher productivity.
“A diverse Qrome hybrid portfolio fits into our Maximum Profit System™ by allowing more placement flexibility with varying environments and management practices,” Hart said.
In extensive research testing across a broad range of genetic platforms, Qrome products have shown significant yield improvement compared to legacy triple-stack technology.
“I’m excited for AgVenture growers to get the opportunity to unlock maximum profits on those acres that require dual modes of action against above- and below-ground pests,” Bakken said.
